Mickey Dunn was a mobster in the 1970s. In 2006, he came out of hiding and sought revenge against the men who tried to kill him.
One night in the 1970s, Dunn was betrayed by his closest associates, who shot him in the chest and pushed him and his car into a lake. Sometime later, a highway patrol officer, Eddie Sanchez, stumbled upon the scene. Emerging from the water, Dunn killed him with a single gunshot, took his clothes and bike, left him in the water and drove away into the night. Having faked his death, he spent decades living anonymously with the bullet still lodged inside him until 2006, when his doctor informed him that the bullet had started moving towards his heart and that he would be dead within a week. With nothing left to lose, he began a vendetta against his former partners.
After being arrested, Dunn confesses to his recent murders before having a seizure and collapsing. Waking up in a hospital, he gives Catherine the details of how he killed Eddie Sanchez and disappeared. He also tells her about the bullet inside him. However, she reveals that she already knew about that; in fact, the bullet has been surgically removed, ensuring that he will live on for a good while longer. At first, Dunn seems fine with going to jail a legend, but Catherine reminds him that most people doing time where he's going have never heard of him.
Dunn's greatest weapon in his killings was his mastery of disguise; by changing his voice and covering himself with latex masks, he was able to completely change his appearance beyond recognition. He liked to use the names of horror movie icons as aliases, such as "Michael Myers" (of the Halloween movies), "Pamela Vorhees" (Friday the 13th) and "F. Krueger" (from A Nightmare on Elm Street). After luring away his victims somewhere private, he killed them in various ways. He also left copies of the same group photo of himself and his intended victims on their persons, with the faces of the ones he had killed crosses over.
