John Hagen was a homicide detective who worked with the Miami-Dade Police Department.

Background[]

During his tenure, he was a partner to Raymond Caine, who was later "killed" although it was later revealed that Raymond had actually faked his own death and joined up with the feds. Hagen had emotional and psychological problems.

Season One[]

Simple Man[]

John is first introduced in season one when a housekeeper is murdered and while the suspect is standing trial, another murder occurs.

Season Two[]

The Best Defense[]

He had a brief relationship with Calleigh Duquesne in Season Two, but she later broke it off after an incident involving a case.

Season Three[]

10-7[]

In Season Three, he pulled a crucial piece of evidence from a crime scene because he wanted to be a hero like he thought his ex-partner Raymond was. He panicked when Calleigh came over to photograph the scene, so he crept up behind her and put his gun behind her head. Although he didn't mean to hurt her, it allowed him time to escape (she didn't know it was him at that time).

He later shot himself in the Ballistics Lab. Calleigh heard the sound of the gun from the crime scene, turned around and then Hagen was dead. This incident prompted her to transfer out of Ballistics-for a time.
