A man's body is found after he died while falling from a vacant high-rise building. What starts out as a simple case soon becomes laced with tragedy when Alexx's replacement, Dr. Shannon Higgins, upon arriving to inspect the body is killed almost immediately after being shot through the head, prompting a gunfire between the Miami Police Department and the unknown shooter while also forcing the scene into lockdown. The case takes a personal turn for Horatio when he learns that the victim had links to his son Kyle's stepfather.

Going Ballistic is the twenty-first episode of Season 6 of CSI: Miami and also the season finale.

Synopsis

In the sixth-season finale, a man dies when he falls from a vacant high-rise building. When a new medical examiner, Shannon Higgins arrives at the scene to inspect the body, she is shot in the head and dies almost immediately, triggering a gunfight between the Miami PD and the unseen shooter. The investigation reveals the man was involved in illegal ammunition sales. But the case gets personal when Horatio links the victim to Kyle's stepfather.
