Background

Three years prior to Unspoken, Westcott, a public school teacher, was investigated on the orders of Beverly McCord, a principal, when a female student tripped and hurt her knee and she saw him help her up and interpreted his way of touching her leg as molestation. Consequently, he spent two months without pay while he was being investigated. After being cleared, he quit, but it took him another year to find a new teaching job.
