David Oka was a budding serial killer who appeared in Season Five of CSI: NY.

History

Oka ran a fashion boutique with his girlfriend, Melinda Kitano. One night, on September 12, 2008, she was killed in a hit-and-run accident by a man named MacQuinn Taylor. Oka saw the car and was able to track it down to a nearby garage, where its owner was named as simply "Mac Taylor". With just that name and the make of the car to go on, Oka set out to track down the Mac Taylor who killed Melinda and avenge her.

During this search, he killed two men, after which he looked at their car keys to find out if they drove the type of car that killed Melinda. The first victim to die by his hand was MacArthur Taylor, who was shot, presumably when he wouldn't give up his keys. The second, killed the same week, was Macabee Taylor, who was pushed over a railing during a struggle for his car keys and died. While the CSIs make the connection between the two deaths, Oka approaches Mac while he's doing laps in a swimming pool, but dismisses him as the driver when he checks his keys and sees that he doesn't drive the right kind of car.

When he was tracked down, he was seen kneeling over candles and doused in gasoline. He picks up a gun and stood up. But instead of firing, he confessed to trying to find and kill MacQuinn. Grief-stricken, he tosses his gun away and despite Stella's pleas, he intentionally falls into the candles setting himself ablaze. He was sent to the hospital and it was mentioned by Stella that his condition was critical and he had minimal chances of survival.

Modus Operandi

Oka targeted people who were named Mac Taylor (due the parking garage registry showing MacQuinn Taylor had abbreviated his first name), specifically those who lived closest to the parking garage where MacQuinn left his car. He killed his victims in various, usually unplanned ways. The first victim, MacArthur Taylor, was shot. The second, Macabee Taylor, was pushed over a railing during a struggle for his car keys. However, he would always target someone called Mac Taylor who drove some kind of car.
