Archie Johnson is a lab technician on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
Character's background
Archie is the Audio/Visual surveillance specialist.
In the 7th season episode Lab Rats , he assists Hodges, along with the other lab techs, in trying to figure out who the The Miniature Killer is. Archie is a fan of science fiction, and he surfs when he can get away from the lab (season 7, "Lab Rats"). At the beginning of season 8 he has also taken over the role of handwriting analysis. He says it is to expand his horizons, and his paycheck.
In the episode Feeling The Heat, while assisting Warrick Brown in a case involving an apparent death by heat stroke, he remarks that he would prefer to die in his sleep by an aneurysm. In season 3 episode, Random Acts of Violence, he assists in investigating a murder at a computer-based business and is shown to enjoy working out in the field for a change, much to Greg Sanders' dismay. He's also suggested to be a Star Trek expert and a fan of internet-based role-playing games.
At the beginning of season 8, he has taken over the role handwriting analysis along with his A/V lab to expand his horizens and paycheck,
In season 9, Archie is seen to have bought one of Raymond Langston's books. In the episode "Deep fried and minty fresh" Archie notes that Ray knows Mandarin Chinese, explaining that Archie is of Chinese decent.
In the season 10 episode, "The Panty Sniffer", Archie is sent to go undercover along with Greg, Catherine Willows and Detective Vartann. When Archie and Greg successfully install the camera's needed for the stakeout except for one bathroom, he and Greg seperate. While Archie is walking down the stairs, he trips and falls, coming face to face with a dead body. Archie is shown to be visibily shaken at his discovery.

Notes
- In Primum Non Nocere, Greg Sanders borrowed one of Archie's contact lenses which might mean Archie is nearsighted.
- He is a fan of surfing and surfing movies.
- Archie is one of the two CSI: Crime Scene Investigation recurring characters to have the same first name as the actor portraying him. The other is David Berman, who plays assistant coroner David Phillips.
