"Are you sure about that? You said it yourself. I'm sick."

Alisa Santiago was a serial killer and poisoner who appeared in Season Eleven of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

Background[]

Alisa Santiago lived at home with her parents and siblings. Her mother, Marta Santiago, began developing a compulsion to hoard many items and objects from her life, leading to an additional development of "clutter-blindness" - being unable to register items of clutter. This eventually drove her father to suicide after he had enough of his wife's compulsion.

Her brother, Julian Santiago, couldn't wait to leave the crammed house and left immediately once he was old enough to work in a halfway house for runaway teenagers. This left Alisa and her sister, Diana, by themselves with their mother, which would eventually drive Alisa to madness and Diana to death.

Still in contact with her brother, she spoke to him regularly and Julian allowed her to work in his halfway house. This is where her taste for killing began, as she targeted the boys Julian supervised.

Season Eleven[]

House of Hoarders[]

During one of Alisa's murders, her mother caught her burying the body. In an obscure attempt to protect her daughter from herself and from murdering again, she chained her to a cot in a spare room, gagged her and blocked the door and floorspace under heaps of junk.

The LVPD went to Marta Santiago's house to inspect the overflowing house of rubbish whereupon they found Alisa's sister Diana after Nick Stokes accidentally stepped on the corpse.

The CSI team came and found Alisa's victims and then found Alisa herself tied up. The CSIs believed either Julian or Marta were guilty of murder; however, Alisa was the guilty party. When enough evidence pointed out that Alisa was in fact the serial killer, Raymond Langston questioned her, to which she responded how she enjoyed her killings. She said she wanted to go home, confident she'd be released after Langston affirmed himself she's sick.

After this, Marta and Julian were released and Alisa was institutionalized for her murders.

Modus Operandi[]

Alisa would lure male teenage runaways and juvenile offenders around her age who were involved in Julian's job and promise them sex with her. She would invite them to come to her house, to which they always replied a definite "yes." Once there, she would make them a meal or drink laced with arsenic, which would kill them. She would then bury the bodies in her backyard, their hands tied in front of them with ribbon she tore from a roll with her teeth.

Known Victims[]

  • June 7, 2008: An unidentified boy
  • May 11, 2009: Ryan Hoff
  • December 21, 2009: Derek Kennedy
  • April 10, 2010: Matthew Price

Trivia[]

  • Alisa is the youngest serial killer in all the CSI franchises so far.
  • Alisa bears some similarities to Polly Bartlett, the only purported serial killer in Wyoming history. She took high-risk men into her family's inn, got them drunk, seduced them, and fed them meals poisoned with arsenic before burying them on her property. She was reportedly responsible for over 20 murders, with her father as an accomplice.
